Hardcore training video by 3x World Champion Bodybuilder Christine Envall
Superfreak
Superfreak was originally filmed in September 2000 for VHS and Beta videotapes, and here in 2021, we have been able to digitally re-master this unique training tape and bring you largely unseen footage of me training at what was around my peak for strength and muscular development.
Back in the year 2000 when Superfreak was filmed, the internet was starting to boom, but there were no smartphones, and filming our every move and every workout wasn’t commonplace as it is today, making this footage a rarity, and I know, some of the only real training footage of me at my peak that is available.
The concept behind Superfreak was to show my training as it really was. No fake weights. No fake exercises are done just to look good. Apart from my training outfits, what you see is what I was doing, day after day, to build my most muscular physique possible.
To create Superfreak we followed 3 days of actual training, which was around 6 and a half hours in the gym, and compressed it into a 55-minute tape. You see the weights I was using, the fatigue I feel, and the pump I get in the real gym environment that was Doherty’s in that era.
At this point in time, I had just won my 3rd World Amateur bodybuilding title and was starting my preparation to gain my IFBB Pro Card, which I did in March 2001.
It is the only time any such filming was done, and it cannot be recreated, so I invite you to sit back and enjoy watching what went into creating my physique, one of the most muscular for its era and possibly still today.
